EDUCATION — CHOOSE ONE OF THREE OPTIONS:
Option 1. Attend and pass these IREM courses. (This is the
recommended order in which to complete these courses):
n One “Marketing and Leasing” course (MKL404, MKL405 or
MKL406), (pages 32-34).
n “Leadership and Human Resource Essentials for Real Estate
Managers” (HRS402) (page 22)
n “Property Maintenance and Risk Management” (MNT402)
(page 24)
n “Investment Real Estate: Financial Tools” (FIN402) (page 18)
n “Investment Real Estate Financing and Valuation – Part One”
(ASM603) (page 19)
n “Investment Real Estate Financing and Valuation – Part Two”

n “Investment Real Estate Financing and Valuation – Part Three”

Option 2. Hold a CCIM, CSM, PCAM, or RPA designation
Option 3. Have an undergraduate or graduate degree (major,
minor, or concentration) in real estate or property management.
MANAGEMENT PLAN
CHOOSE ONE OF TWO OPTIONS:
Option 1. Submit and pass management plan on an actual
property (MPIND) (page 42).
Option 2. Attend and pass the Management Plan Skills
Assessment (MPSAXM) (page 43).
EXAMINATION
n Attend and pass the exam for “Ethics for the Real Estate
Manager” (ETH800) (page 16).
n Pledge to uphold the IREM Code of Professional Ethics.

EXPERIENCE
Have 36 months of real estate management experience, meeting
minimum portfolio sizes and minimum job functions. (Forms
provided upon candidacy approval).

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
n Be current with annual national and chapter dues. (2012 national
Candidate dues are $490; chapter dues vary by chapter.)
n Be a Candidate for a minimum of one year.
n Submit a CPM application with the application fee, which is $210
in 2012.
n Submit three confidential letters of recommendation (forms
provided upon candidacy approval).
n Hold a real estate license or verify that you are not required to
have one for your current position.
n Attend two IREM Chapter meetings or events during the 12
months immediately prior to CPM approval.
n Be affiliated with the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®.
n Be interviewed and recommended for approval by your IREM
Chapter.
