COLLABORATIONS
Managers in the affordable housing and military housing
sectors can access IREM education through partnerships with
other organizations.
Neighbor Works America
www.nw.org
Neighbor Works offers several IREM courses at Training Institutes
held every year across the country for individuals in community
development and affordable housing.
Professional Housing Management Association (PHMA)
and Military Housing and Lodging Institute (MHLI)

IREM’s partnership with PHMA and MHLI provides quality IREM
training for the military housing market, including the Certified
Defense Privatization Manager certification program for persons
involved in the management of privatized military housing.
The Consortium for Housing and Asset Management
(CHAM)
www.cham.org
CHAM is a collaboration of organizations that works to
engage asset management practices in the affordable
housing industry. IREM partnered with CHAM to develop
a three-day course that is part of the required program
of study to earn the Certified Housing Asset Manager
certification.
FAST-TRACK OPTIONS
IREM courses and/or credentials also apply to these
credentials given by other organizations.
RPA (Real Property Administrator) through BOMI
International
Having the CPM designation may lead to a waiver of four of
the courses required for the RPA, as well as the experience
requirement, through the competency credit option.
CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Manager) through
CCIM Institute
Having the CPM designation waives the CCIM portfolio
requirement and required elective courses through the fast-track
option.
CAPS (Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor) through
the National Apartment Association Education Institute
(NAA-EI)
Having the ARM certification waives the multi-site supervisor
experience requirement.
RSPA (Resort and Second-Home Property Specialist)
through the National Association of Realtors® (NAR)
Introduction to Real Estate Management (IREM01) fulfills one of the
two elective courses required. Having the CPM designation waives
the elective requirement altogether.
CMCA (Certified Manager of Condominium Associations)
though National Board of Certification for Community
Association Managers (NBC-CAM)
IREM is a recognized provider of continuing education credit.
IREM’s course “Sustainable Real Estate Management
(SRM001)” applies to:
n Those pursuing the Credential for Green Property Management
(CGPM) awarded jointly by the National Affordable Housing
Management Association (NAHMA) and the National Apartment
Association Education Institute (NAA-EI)
n Continuing education credit for U.S. Green Building Council
LEED Professionals
n Fulfilling core training requirements toward Mark to Market (M2M)
